University Scholars Award

Yay!! Although it's a bit too late to post it here, but at least the event has not started and the award has not been presented... Huehehee...

Yup2, I'm so happy tt I won this award! And Ms. Susi Hermanta, my high school teacher from SMAK 1 Jakarta, and Dr. Lee Pooi See, my professor from NTU, also won the award!! :-)

I guess some of you maybe wondering about this award. Well, here is the write-up of it:

"To nurture, enhance and recognize teaching excellence and the impact which great teachers have on their students, the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) initiated the "University Scholars Award" with the graduating class of Academic Year 2006/2007.

This award gives recognition to the influence of inspirational teaching, and the enduring bonds that are forged between teachers and students. It aims to establish long-lasting and fulfilling relationships between the university, the students and their teachers.

Top NTU students who win this award will have achieved excellent academic performance, displayed strong leadership ability and demonstrated potential for contributing to society. Each winner will acknowledge an NTU faculty member and a teacher from his/her former junior college, polytechnic, or equivalent institution, who have inspired and have contributed significantly to his/her education.

The teachers and NTU faculty members will be honoured at the NTU Convocation. The teachers will also be recognized for their inspirational teaching with a S$5,000 cash grant each to be established in their names. Each honoured teacher will nominate a student from his/her junior college, polytechnic or equivalent institution to receive the S$5,000 grant upon admission to NTU."

I'm so happy that I managed to make both of my parents happy and proud to have me as their child! And I'm happy to be able to honour some of my teachers with this award! :-)

And with this, I will be quite busy for the whole day on Monday, 21st July 2008. We'll have the award presentation in the morning, followed by my Class Plaque Laying Ceremony speech, then the campus tour in the afternoon, and will end the day with the University Awards Dinner at the Conrad Centennial. Hohooo~
